Dominican Republic Team
May 29 - June 7, 2012 • Dominican Republic
This summer, you have an opportunity to learn about the the mission of God in a very unique way. Through study, discussion and service alongside other members of the 2012 Dominican Republic Team, you can work to discover how God has equipped you to take part in His awesome plan.
What will the experience look like?
Over 18 weeks, the team – composed of high school students and their parents- will dive into Scripture and each other’s lives to better understand how we can take part in the mission of God. During this time we will:
o Unpack the mission of God as it is revealed through the Biblical narrative
o Develop a fuller understanding of global Christianity
o Explore how God has gifted each of us to take part in the mission
o Work as a team to prepare for ongoing mission locally and globally
The culmination of this missions experience will be a 10-day trip (May 29-June 7) to the Dominican Republic where we will:
o Interact personally with life and faith in the third world
o Experience Christianity in a different culture and language
o Work alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters as they speak and live the Gospel
o Meet Carla Cruz, the high school ministry’s Compassion child
o On-site teaching from missionary Ruth Jensen
o Reflect on our own understanding of mission
How much will this cost?
Each team member will need to invest $800 of their own money towards the trip as well as participate in team fundraisers and letter writing. The trip will cost each team member between about $2000.
Applications and deposits are due by January 13th. I also invite you to join us in the high school room on Sunday, December 18th for further discussion of this opportunity as well as a time of Q&A.
